Is your child ready to take their writing to the next level? In this engaging essay writing class for upper elementary and middle school students, learners will develop strong writing skills using the proven Four Square Writing Method. This method helps students organize their ideas clearly and write well-structured three-paragraph essays in multiple genres.

What Students Will Learn:

Over the course of 6 live weekly sessions, your child will learn to write across four key essay types:

Narrative Essays
Descriptive Essays
Expository (Informative) Essays
Persuasive Essays

We’ll break down each genre with clear examples, guided practice, and weekly feedback to help students strengthen their skills step by step.

This class is ideal for students who already understand basic paragraph structure and can write 5-sentence paragraphs.

Weekly Class Breakdown:

Introduction to the Four Square Writing Method
Narrative Writing: Define, explore examples, plan, and write (Homework)
Descriptive Writing: Define, explore examples, plan, and write (Homework) + share narrative essays
Informative/Expository Writing: Define, explore examples, plan, and write (Homework) + share descriptive essays
Persuasive Writing: Define, explore examples, plan, and write (Homework) + share informative essays
Sharing Persuasive Essays + small group writing activity (if time allows)

Class Format:

Live Zoom sessions weekly
Lessons, assignments, and feedback delivered through Payhip, our classroom platform
Worksheets available to print for offline practice
Students must type their essays to receive teacher feedback
(Younger students may have help typing but should do their own writing)

Homework & Evaluation:

1–2 hours of homework per week depending on the essay type
Personalized written feedback on each essay
Focus on progress, not perfection—this class encourages growth through practice!

Class Size & Interaction:

To support meaningful interaction, class sizes are limited to 4–6 students. This ensures every learner gets time to ask questions, share writing, and engage in group discussions.
